Experiencing Firsts: Raise D’ Roof Bubble Run!

I had always wanted to do a fun run, but sadly, I have never done it before. The reason for this may be because the venues are always far from where I live. My family is not a sporty family, so we rarely go on hiking trips, and similar things to that. I do not usually run. I get tired easily, even though I do sports. Through this experience, I want to try something new, and challenge myself to do things I do not have the confidence in. I also joined this run because it also gives funds to those in need.
Last June, Michelle, my friend, showed me a poster of a fun run. The name of the activity was called "Raise D' Roof Bubble Run". I was quite interested in it, not knowing how they would add bubbles around the area. I also loved the idea that this run is not only just for fun, but it is also to raise funds for the kids of Tahanan ng Pagmamahal. It is organized by Affinitea, and it is also sponsored by Mizuno.

Registration-- July 3, 2016
I thought signing up for this activity would be very inconvenient, considering you still have to go to a mall just to register. However, that was not the case! It was easy as one two and three! All we had to do was look for the place fill the form up, pay, and we are good to go!
I was finally able to register. YAY!

Preparation for the event --July 4,2016-July 23,2016
As I only had a few weeks to prepare, I tried my best to exercise during my free time. Considering I had tons of home works to do, not to mention I also had a lot of activities, I still found the time to prepare for this event, around 3 times a week for 3 weeks.

Running at home since it
was raining outside

At night, right after I get home, I change and run around the block for about thirty minutes. If the condition outside my house does not seem good, I run on the treadmill. I also do some strengthening exercises for my legs, like squats.

BUBBLE RUN DAY!-- July 24, 2016
I woke up around 3:30am, very excited for this upcoming activity. I showered, and prepared my clothes, and as early as 4:30, my family and I left the house.
Getting ready!

We got to SM By The Bay at around 5:30. We did not know there would be so much road blocks! Not to mention there were already a lot of cars, so it was very hard to park.

When I first got down from my car, I was amazed on how many people there were. It looked like a mini concert, but for exercising. There was a big stage in front of me, with DJs playing everyone's morning jam. I also saw a big pile of bubbles on the starting line! I was really excited!!! I looked for my friends, along with Sir Villas. They got here earlier than I did, because they live nearer to the venue.

Shortly after we got together, everyone was tasked to meet at the starting line. It was around ten minutes before the race started. Luckily, we were able to get a spot near the front.
Waiting for the gun start!

The race started on time. Everyone started running right away! I found it really amusing to go through the bubbles. They were soft, and not slippery. I think the organizers made it safe enough for runners to run on.

It was good for the first 1.5KM, but then, I started getting tired. Well, this was expected because I do not usually run. I had a lot of thoughts in my head, thinking "Are we there yet?","Where's the water station?", or "OhMy. Another turn?". Well, I was surprised with a lot of things. It was a long run, I thought of giving up, and just sit on the side, but I realized  I should just continue on. It would defeat the whole purpose of what I wanted to achieve if I just stop.

HALF WAY!
Let's run!

After about 45 minutes, I was able to finish the course.  Race marshals were waiting for me, holding medals to put over my head once I had finished the course. I've never felt so proud before! That sensation of success just rushed through my veins. I knew it was worth it to continue! I couldn't help but smile throughout the whole morning.

After going through this run, I realized that I should never give up, no matter how tired we are. I just have to keep on moving. I can not just stay and get stuck there forever. No matter how hard life becomes, though it seems impossible, we should always try and try until we succeed.

This will definitely not be the first and last time I will be doing this. Hope to do more runs in the future!
